Q; How is BPAUX involved with building fences at our nations borders?
A; BPAUX is not in the business of building fences, nor does BPAUX intend to build any fencing, this is a federal government concern and should be addressed to those in the government who are responsible for this and to the contractors who build them.
Q; How politically involved is or will BPAUX be?
A; BPAUX has absolutely no intention of getting into any political arenas, nor will BPAUX or any of it’s leadership endorse any politician on behalf of BPAUX, or in public. Members & leaders have the right to their own personal beliefs, but these opinions’ will not be expressed on behalf of BPAUX by any one in BPAUX.
Q; How is BPAUX connected to groups like the American Red Cross, Boy Scouts, or minutemen groups?
A; BPAUX is a private “Auxiliary” and is not connected to any organization other than its sponsor for the project, Homeland Security Policy Institute Group, Inc, a 501c3 Non-profit California Corporation. Nor is BPAUX any part of the USCG Auxiliary.
Q; Are members of BPAUX members of any “Supremacists” groups or “Militias”?
A; Members are from all walks of life, we have members from law enforcement, retired border patrol agents, small businessmen, school teachers, retired military, leaders in boy scouts, leaders in the Red Cross. Our interview process before membership filters out any person who we feel may have any racist tendencies toward any race, religion, or nationality. We will not tolerate any form of discrimination at all, and if found it would cause immediate termination from the Auxiliary. No member of BPAUX can be involved in any racially orientated group and participate in BPAUX.
Q; Where will my membership dues go?
A; Membership dues go to the expense of a criminal background check approx; $16.00, ID badge $9.50, postage $2.00, $1.75 to PayPal for membership dues processing. The remainder goes to funding the project.
Q; Who is on the BPAUX leadership team?
A; BPAUX leadership consists of a wide variety of people in the community, backgrounds from small business owners to teachers, to retired military and other private sector groups. At this time it is pre-mature to post actual names of these individuals, and for personnel reasons some leaders may opt out of having this information online for security reasons, at which time this information will be made available to those who seek it on a one on one basis with the leadership’s approval.
Q;Is BPAUX affiliated with the Department of Homeland Security?
A;No. BPAUX works within the umbrella of Homeland Security Policy Institute Group, Inc, a private sector not for profit corporation and the auxiliary is one of it’s projects at this time. Its goal is to educate and connect the citizen and their efforts to DHS through a seamless interface.
Q;What kind of training can I expect if I actively participate in neighborhood/border watch activities? A;BPAUX offers the DHS training for citizen watch groups. There is no charge for this training for BPAUX members. Additionally, BPAUX members can receive training in Cyber Watch, Marine Watch and in firearms safety, first aid, search and rescue and disaster preparedness. The Red Cross for certain certifications like “Professional Rescuer” charges nominal fees to cover the training expenses.
Q;Do I have to participate actively?
A;NO, BPAUX is an “association”. Individuals can be card carrying “Associate Members” or take specific training to advance through field operations. The individual’s level of participation is entirely up to them.
Q;Will I be paid for working in the field?
A;No. BPAUX deploys members interested in homeland security and safety in their communities. There are a limited number of paid positions available however for staff roles. To find out more click on “current openings”.
Q;I want to start a sector in my own community. How do I do that?

Q;Why does your home page link go to the Homeland Security Policy Institute Group?
A;HSPIG.org sponsors the Border Patrol Auxiliary. It is a private sector “think tank” that deals with issues of national security and safety. It is also one of the few private organizations in the country authorized to use the DHS logo. BPAUX is a project of HSPIG.
Q; Does BPAUX sell email addresses to mass mailing companies?
A; NO! Period.
Q; Does BPAUX or HSPIG have any government or DHS oversight?
A; No, none.
Q; Why should I join BPAUX if the group I currently work with does border security?
A; That is a choice you need to make, just about all of our members are either brand new or are coming from some other organization. Our auxiliary is much broader in scope, we take into account many areas where other groups just focus on one specific issue, and we are not out to make ANY political statements. We are here to assist law enforcement in all areas; we cannot partake in ANY political areas under IRS rulings.
Q; Is the application fee applicable if I have had a background check prior?
A; Yes, we do not know who you are, and we do not take anyone’s word for this! It is necessary for every person in BPAUX to have this done and on file. We looked at this in the start, and it just was too messy to deal with, so it was decided to have everyone do it.
Q: Where did you get the logo you use?
A; We were allowed permission from HSPIG to use theirs and alter it to conform to our group, HSPIG created this logo from it's own ideas and various other images as ideas to draw from with the use of a professional logo design group.
Q: What are the age restrictions?
A: There are no age restrictions, only that you must be 18 years old, or older, you can be as active as you wish to be, it all depends on how much effort you would like to put into the organization.
Q: Is this a job working with the Border Patrol?
A: No, it is a Volunteer organization, we do not employ anyone at this time to work directly or indirectly with any agency.
Q: I have filled in the application, but nobody has gotten back to me! When can I expect to hear from someone in leadership?
A: Applications are reviewed on a first in first out basis. If your application is missing your dues payment, we will send you a E-Mail that states what the hold up is and provide you means to complete your part of the membership application. Then when this is complete we will review the materials, do the background check, do the vetting call if necessary, and send you your information and access to the web site where all the membership information is kept. It is necessary to complete your yearly dues prior to the background check, withouth this your application will not be processed.
